Fort Mott Revisited

Part of Finn's Point National Cemetery at Fort Mott State Park. This area is the burial site of Confederate prisoners from Fort Delaware as well as Union soldiers who died while on duty.

One of my recent favorites . . .

At monument at the cemetery.

Stripes.

View of the nuclear plant from the ferry dock.

Also seen from the ferry dock.

Fort Delaware as seen from the ferry dock.

Otto taking a rest to view the tranquil scene. At the time, he didn't know that the water behind him, which was a moat along the lookout point, was also where raw sewage from the latrines was drained in order to deter enemy soldiers from crossing. The moat was tidal, so sewage went out with the tide.

Captions needed. Please submit your suggestions.

Here's one to get you started:
"Okay, guys. One more big drag, and then we get to split the worm."

Otto, Olaf, and Gunther out on the town last night.

Signs of Spring at Salem River

Plenty of swans, including nesters and synchronized eaters.

There were a lot of these guys establishing territory.

Spring at Last!

Flowers coming soon?

Red-winged blackbird, or black-bodied redbird. So hard to tell them apart.

These birds always remind me of pterodactyls (no spellchecker on this thing!).

A little touched up (I couldn't help myself).

More sights from NYC.

Who needs Crayola?

My favorite blue. Kind of goes well with the pigeon, doncha think?

Taking a rest from the daily clam quest.

J. L. Seagull.

Things that fly--that's how this picture got here.

This one, too.

The pipes stay! They're blue, so they don't have to fly.
