Before it started breaking up, this cloud reminded me of some alien ship hovering over the lake, probably waiting to do a mind meld with Snappy (our huge snapping turtle that our local "naturalist," i.e., hunter, says is probably at least 100 years old, judging by his size--his head is bigger than mine, and I haven't seen all of his shell, yet. Hope to get a picture of him/her, and maybe an interview, this summer--stay tuned. And, yes, I got the "naturalist" to promise that Snappy would not become soup, at least not by his hand).
David found a new route to work and told me about this place. I got there about 30 minutes too late to catch the good colors and see the swans well. And it was really cold and windy. Will try again tomorrow.
Colorized landscape at 60 mph out the car window on the way to take the above picture (photographer was not driving). I just love periwinkle and green together.
Shot through the window at the Riverview Inn (blocking the view of other diners, I know, but isn't that what photojournalists are supposed to do?). That dark speck in the upper right is not a UFO. It's just some schmutz on the window.
We were without power for about 9 hours. Here, that means no electricity, water, heat, phone, or uploading digital pictures. Had to call on all my wilderness survival skills. Katie wanted us to call Petrunis Oil and have a delivery. She couldn't understand why all of her favorite heating ducts were cold.
A new picture has been added. Click on the picture to enlarge it to normal size, just so you can get the full effect. I think Banana Boy should be the new Slytherin mascot.
Watch out for howlers next week.
